International women´s day is a global day highlighting and foremost celebrating the many achievements made by women all over the world. Achievements made in the social, political, economic, and cultural sphere. Beyond that this specific day also gives us an opportunity to mark a call to action for increasing women´s equality. In recent times we have seen a clear link between gender, social equality, and climate change and without gender equality today, a sustainable future is out of reach. Even though there has been progress concerning this, we still have a long way to go, and the achievements has to be dealt with on many fronts. But the very exciting and positive thing is that we can all work together and strive for a faster improvement and foster women´s equality.
Last but definitely not least take a moment to read a statement said by the UN Women Executive director, Sima Bahous “Let us make this International Women´s Day a moment to recall that we have the answers not just for SDG 5 but, through the advancement of gender equality, for all 17 Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2030”.
