E-mac Tanzania thrilled to announce that has been recognized in the latest newsletter from TAWASANET (Tanzania Water and Sanitation Network). TAWASANET, a national umbrella organization of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working in the Water and Sanitation sector in Tanzania, has highlighted E-mac Tanzania’s outstanding achievement in the field of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene).
As part of the “WASH AND LEARN 3.0” project, generously funded by Simavi, E-mac Tanzania has made a significant impact by constructing a dedicated changing room at Ilkiding’a Secondary School in Arusha DC, Arusha region. This changing room is equipped with essential amenities, including a toilet, clean water supply, sanitary pads, and change of clothing. It serves the specific needs of approximately 894 girl students, ensuring their comfort and dignity during menstruation.

The establishment of this changing room has not only empowered girl students but also contributed to reducing absenteeism, as they no longer have to miss school due to menstruation-related challenges. Furthermore, E-mac Tanzania has successfully facilitated the formation of a SWASH (School Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) club at the school. This club plays a crucial role in maintaining and promoting proper WASH facilities within the institution. See the video below.
E-mac Tanzania proud to be part of improving WASH conditions in schools and creating a positive impact on the lives of young girls in Tanzania. This recognition by TAWASANET highlights E-mac Tanzania commitment to advancing education and hygiene in the communities we serve.
